Hello World!

My name is Danica Sun, and I'm nine years old.

If someone asks me what I love to do most, my answer might be a little long. Because there are so many things I like, and they can even "talk" to each other!

I play piano and I'm good at Bach. Mum and Dad say that when I play Bach, my fingers dance — and it's like two different dances: my left hand does one, my right hand does another, but they both have to step on the same beat. To me, playing Bach feels like solving a puzzle, or playing two different games at the same time and making them work together. It's hard, but I am proud that I can play it well.

I also like making clothes for my Barbie dolls. I use fabric scraps, ribbons, and sometimes I secretly use bits and pieces of my toys and Mum's things. The dresses I make need to have pleats, layers, and colours that look good together. My big sister Sienna says my clothes are really pretty and sophisticated — they look just like real ones.

And I draw. I like drawing animals. Not just scribbling — I observe very carefully: how a bird folds its wings, how a cat's tail looks different when it's angry versus when it's happy. Dad calls me a "sharp, little observer", and I think that's a cool name.

Sometimes I think: when I play Bach, I have to follow several voices at once; when I make clothes, I think about cutting fabric and matching colours; when I draw animals, I think about their bones and fur. They all seem different, but they also feel a bit alike — I build a frame in my mind first, and then I use my hands to bring it out into the world.

What about maths, science and similar stuff? Dad said Bach's music has lots of patterns, just like maths; animals' patterns and "designs" are just like geometry; making clothes needs measurements (and money), just like solving problems and do the maths correctly (otherwise you will go broke!). So maybe these things aren't separate at all — maybe they connect and help each other?

I don't know what I'll be when I grow up. But one thing I'm sure of: I love observing with my heart, thinking with my brain, and doing with my hands. Mum, Dad and my sister all say I can grow up to be a really smart and curious kid.
